Legacy Letters-
A tradition in our project, although not followed by all members, is to write a "Legacy Letter". This letter allows for the exiting VISTA member to reflect on their year, and speak personally to VISTAs that are to follow them. These are personal letters, and are written during a highly emotional time for most members. We pay homage to our past projects and past VISTAs by including them here.

Year One
VISTA members: One
Member: Angela Cole VISTA Member 2005-2006
Orginization: Generations United of Yavapai County
Generations United of Yavapai County (GUYC) was formed out of a recognition that the needs of individuals, communities, and organizations are increasing while resources seem to be dwindling. The implications of this imbalance are economic, social and political. In an attempt to find preventive solutions, GUYC's charge is to provide a framework to empower individuals, communities and organizations to identify and utilize internal assets to create effective solutions to their challenges. This approach decreases competition for resources while creating and identifying new sources of social and economic wealth which leads to sustainable self-reliance.
GUYC's guiding vision is two fold: 1) to increase intergenerational understanding and collaboration; and 2) to create, implement and promote a model of sustainable, strong, and capable partnerships that work to dispel the syndrome of dependency.

This year was a creative year. The team members focused of the development of training curriculum's, tool-kits, and other community resources. This team was influential in creating and supporting the community development plan for The Yavapai County MATForce and Substance Abuse Coalition. MATforce and the numerous community work-groups is this teams most tangible result, but they also developed a Kinship Care Position and began the struggle to deliver services, and understand this needy segment of our community. They also designed, published, and produced the second version of the Spirit of Yavapai County Book. Everything that the project stands on was built from the work of these seven VISTAs. It is to them that we owe gratitude, and in whose shoes we walk as VISTAs with the Yavapai County VISTA project.
